| S4 PUPILS CONTINUE WILLIAMWOOD'S CHARITABLE TRADITION |
| On Tuesday 15th December 2009 sixteen members of the S4 Social and Vocational Skills class organised a festive lunch for thirty Williamwood staff to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The pupils prepared and served soup and rolls and sold raffle tickets. Due to the generous uptake of raffle tickets, the pupils raised £51 which was taken to the local Clarkston Cancer Research shop to be passed to Cancer Research UK. Shop manager Linda was delighted to receive the cheque commenting that Williamwood pupils have been extremely generous now and in the past with their time and talents and have provided a welcome boost to funds. Linda continued that it was heart warming to see young people taking the time to consider others. She pointed out that Cancer Research UK receives no government financial backing and is dependent on the generosity of the public for funding of research and help projects. So once again, well done to the pupils of Williamwood for their much appreciated charitable efforts. |

Dear Parent
HMIe Report on
As you may know, a team of Her Majesty’s
Inspectors visited us during the week before the October holiday
break. HMIe has now
released the published report and I have issued a copy to each
family along with this letter. From reading the report you will see that the
inspection team was very impressed with many aspects of the work of
the school, but none more so than the positive attitude and
achievements of our staff and pupils. I commend this report to you and I thank you for
the support you have given to improve our school. Yours sincerely John Fitzpatrick Headteacher |

CAN
YOU OFFER A WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITY?
|
|
The
Pupil Support (Learning) Department has been working for a number
of years to help pupils with Additional Support Needs develop vital
life skills. We have worked successfully with pupils on independent
travel and work skills as well as on presentation and personal profiling
skills.
We are now looking to our community and local businesses to help us offer essential experience in the workplace. Our pupils need the opportunity to gain this valuable work experience, not for one week only, but over an extended period of time for a morning or afternoon each week to allow them to develop lasting skills. If
you are in a position to help us, please get in touch with me through
the school website or by calling the school (0141 577 2500). All
pupils will be supported into a work placement where necessary and,
between us, we will work on suitable roles and responsibilities.I hope you can help us and look forward to hearing from you. Joan
